Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The actress won numerous awards, like an Oscar for the film Piano. The successful actress began her acting career by performing on stage, through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. The actress has had a passion for acting ever since she was in school. The first time she appeared in a show in the fifth grade was in Helen Keller. She became deaf in one ear following a bout of mumps but did not permit this to deter her desire to be an actress. At college, she was a theatre student and then moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Hunter was stuck in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They worked together to write Broadway Crimes of the Heart which marked Hunter's Broadway debut. When she moved into Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered a supporting role on Swing Shift. For the past 30 years Holly Hunter has been on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
